How I spent my Halloween.

The first part of the day wasn't terribly eventful-- I was mostly following the campaign trails-- though I did watch Harry Potter. Not the movie-- the ballet. Yes, such a thing exists-- some school out in Utah did a production based on one of the books a couple years back. It's rather good, I must say....

In the afternoon I met up with a family from the studio so that one of the girls could get fitted for her first pointe shoes. I was really impressed with how the shop handles first fittings-- they explained everything in depth about pointe shoes, how to put them on, how they should feel, and how to care for them. They even give out a pamphlet about "Your First Pair of Pointe Shoes." Very, very cool.
It was a pretty quick process-- within half an hour she was fitted perfectly in Grishko 2007s (yay for Grishkos, by the way. Love Grishkos). Then she learned how to sew them, which she picked up really quickly.Next: Go home, get dressed, depart to favorite haunt for Halloween festivities.

Of course, there was a Palin-off:

Which made Phil Tom Cruise by default.

I must say that the best costume in the city had to be N. Wozny over at Dancehunter-- she was an Obama sign. GOBAMA!

Right before I left the bar I ran into R, my dance partner from last season (we did There is a Time and Double Takes together. Among other ballets, but those were the main ones-- and oh, so fun). It was great to see him again. But, I had to be off-- I needed to be up early for a day of dancing today.

But, before I do that: It's November now, and in an effort to kick this blog up a notch (and my motivation to write), I'm going to try to participate in NaBloPoMo, which means I am going to make a valiant effort to have a new post every day. I'm going to be doing a new series called "You choreographed WHAT?" where I'll snark offer my modest reviews on some of the more... different... dances I've seen of late. It'll be fun!
